Nicki Minaj – Your Love

Sound – Non diegetic sound throughout the song with a background track that has an upbeat tempo. It slows down at the end to show concentrate on the tragedy that has occurred in the narrative.
Editing - Slow dissolves to match with slow pace camera shots. The slow shots are used to show a flashback, something that happened in the fast. Half way through the song the video uses straight cuts instead of dissolves to give a quicker transition between the story and the singing. This is done because the story is about to reach a climax so the transitions give a faster pace and gives tension. Another dissolve is used at the end where Minaj has died. The dissolve with the slow pace of the scene again gives a bigger sense of depression of her death and the slow pace shows that the impact of her death will stay for a long time with her lover.
Mise en scene – Bright lighting on main character. There is also dim lighting to represent mood and atmosphere. The costumes worn show intertextuality because of the female lead wearing a geisha costume and the male lead wearing a samurai costume. The costumes show their attraction towards each other. It also sets the theme and setting of the video, which is a dojo. Minaj is wearing makeup, further emphasising her beauty and emphasising that she is the main female lead in the video. An indoor setting has been used to capture the same feeling as a martial arts dojo. The green covers symbolise jealousy and are shown when the villain appears. There is a clear connection here between the colour and the villain because she is jealous of Niki Minaj. The use of red connotes love.
